⚙️ Synthesis of Nickel Oxide Nanoparticles

Materials Used

  • Nickel (II) nitrate hexahydrate
  • Sodium hydroxide (NaOH)
  • Aegle marmelos leaf extract

Procedure

1. Wash and boil leaves, then filter extract.
2. Prepare 0.1 M nickel nitrate solution.
3. Add leaf extract dropwise with stirring.
4. Adjust pH to 10 using NaOH.
5. Stir for 2 hours and keep overnight.
6. Filter and dry at 80°C.

🔬 Characterization Techniques

UV-Visible Spectroscopy

Absorption peak observed at 383 nm confirms nanoparticle formation. The calculated band gap is 3.24 eV.

FTIR Analysis

  • 1573 cm⁻¹ → C=C stretching
  • 1336 cm⁻¹ → O–H bending
  • 3296 cm⁻¹ → O–H stretching
